Camps For Helping Troubled Teens

Sometimes helping troubled teens is something that is out of reach for parents. No connections can be made no matter what they do. In cases like this, there are options available to help parents regain an appropriate parental position with their teens.

One option is a boot camp for troubled teens. Boot camps are short term programs of about 1-2 months for teenagers having behavior problems. Boot camps use military style exercises to help shape your teens behavior. They have been proven to be very effective for teens with severe behavioristic, uncontrollable attitudes and lifestyles, and are considered a great alternative to jail for juveniles. Boot camps are very demanding, strict and well supervised. They are specifically designed to instill obedience to authority in a very short period of time. Boot camps will cost about $2,000 and up for a one month camp but are highly recommended if your teens falls in the category of severe behavior previously discussed.

Another kind of camp for troubled teens are summer housing programs. These are completely different than boot camps in that they are not so much a disciplinary kind of environment, but are more for helping your teen engage in constructive activities with other kids in a similar situation. These kinds of programs help your troubled teen develop social skills and other skills to help them feel more competent about themselves. While at these programs, your teen will attend a series of classes and other predetermined activities to ensure their growth and development throughout their entire stay.
